For anyone 16 and over

You don’t need the grades.
You need the story.

Rolly’s Runway gets young people into engineering on the strength of what they’ve made, broken, fixed and wondered about. Ten quick questions, no CV, no personal statement.

Takes about ten minutes. You can stop and come back.

Four steps

How to get started:

01
Take the quiz
Ten quick questions about how you think and what you enjoy. No grades, no CV.
02
Get your engineering profile
Find out which type of engineering actually suits you, not just which one you've heard of.
03
Meet your mentor
A twenty-minute conversation, then a placement that fits your profile.
04
Start your placement
Paid where it can be, always real — a workshop, a site, a lab, not a spreadsheet.
“I fixed my brother’s bike so many times the shop offered me a Saturday job. Rolly’s Runway is the first place that thought that mattered as much as a grade.”

Why this works

What a CV was never going to catch.

No CV, ever
You're never asked to summarise yourself in a document designed for people twice your age. Ten questions do the work instead.
A mentor who's been there
Not a careers advisor reading from a leaflet — an engineer who started exactly where you are now, matched to your profile.
Paid from day one
Placements are paid wherever the law allows it to be. Programmes for under-16s are always free, sometimes with a bursary on top.
Questions

Before you start.

Do I need any experience to start?

No. The quiz doesn't ask what you've studied or built — it asks how you think. Plenty of people who go on to get matched have never touched a toolkit before their first placement.

Is any of this paid?

Placements and apprenticeships are paid wherever the law allows it. Programmes for under-16s are always free, and some carry a small bursary just to cover your costs — never the other way round.

How long does the whole process take?

The quiz takes about ten minutes. From there it depends on you — some people message a mentor the same week, others take a term to feel ready. There's no clock running.

What if the quiz doesn't feel right?

Retake it any time — your answers aren't locked in, and your profile updates the moment you do. It's a starting point for a conversation, not a verdict.

There’s a place for you. Take ten minutes and find it.
